Tennessee is officially divided into three Grand Divisions. East Tennessee holds Knoxville, Chattanooga and the Tri Cities below the Great Smoky Mountains, Middle Tennessee centers on Nashville, the capital, with Murfreesboro, Franklin and Clarksville nearby, and West Tennessee looks to Memphis on the Mississippi. Each region has its own accent, food and style.
